Eighteen hotels, numbered one to eighteen
The Lamplight Guide is an independent record of eighteen hotels, set out in four sections: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and hotels built of ice and snow. Every hotel carries one number, from the first to the eighteenth, and that number stays with it in the index, in the section list and at the entry itself. Details come from open sources. There are no prices here, no verdicts and no bookings.
- 01–06Art Hotels
Six houses kept as buildings first: an old plan, its rooms and what the owners hung in them.
- 07–10Capsule Hotels
Four houses that sell a berth rather than a room, with washing and sitting space held in common.
- 11–14Casino Hotels
Four Canadian resorts described as hotels: halls, restaurants, spas and the ground they stand on.
- 15–18Ice Hotels
Four seasonal buildings of ice and snow, raised again each winter and gone by the end of it.

How this is listed
Each entry was written from the hotel's own material and from published sources, and it describes the building, its common rooms and what is worth asking before a stay. Nothing here is a recommendation, and no hotel is measured against another. Where a detail could not be confirmed, the sentence was rewritten so that it stays true without it.
The numbering runs straight through the four sections and does not restart, so the eighteenth entry is the eighteenth hotel on the site and nowhere else. A section shows the range it holds rather than a count of its own. If a hotel moves, closes or changes what it offers, the number stays with the entry until the entry is removed.
