Casino Hotels

Four resorts in Canada, described here as hotels and nothing else: the buildings, the halls used for concerts, the restaurants, the spas and the ground around them. The licensed floor is not described, not assessed and not discussed anywhere on this site.

Montréal Casino & Hotel

Île Notre-Dame, Montréal, Québec, Canada

Montréal Casino & Hotel stands on Île Notre-Dame, an island in the St Lawrence built up for the world exhibition of 1967. The complex reuses two pavilions from that exhibition, the French pavilion and the Québec pavilion, joined and adapted for their present use. The island is reached by bridge or by the metro station on the neighbouring island, and it is public parkland around the buildings.

The pavilions kept their exterior form, and the atrium of the French pavilion still runs the height of the building. Restaurants of several kinds sit inside the complex, together with a cabaret room used for a live programme through the year. The grounds around the buildings are open, with paths along the water and the exhibition landscaping still in place.

Write to the complex about the evening programme and about the opening hours of the restaurants, which differ from one another. Access to the island by road changes when events are held there, so it is worth confirming the approach and parking arrangements before you set out.

Fallsview Casino Resort

Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

Fallsview Casino Resort is built into the escarpment above the Niagara gorge, on the Canadian side of the river at Niagara Falls. The complex is cut into the slope, so entrances stand at different levels and the upper floors look towards the falls. It is reached from Fallsview Boulevard, with the tourist district of the town on the streets behind it.

A theatre inside the complex holds a year-round programme of concerts and shows, and a smaller room is used for other events. Restaurants, cafés and a shopping arcade run along the interior street, and a spa and pool are on an upper floor. Galleries and walkways connect the levels and give the building its route from front to back.

Ask the resort which theatre programmes fall within your dates and how tickets are handled for guests. The hours of the spa, the pool and the restaurants vary through the year, so confirm those in the same message, along with the walkway connections to the street.

River Rock Casino Resort

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

River Rock Casino Resort stands on the north arm of the Fraser River in Richmond, on the flat land between Vancouver and the airport. The site takes in the resort buildings, a marina and a walkway along the water. A station on the rail line between the airport and downtown Vancouver sits beside the complex, so the approach is short on foot from the platform.

A show theatre inside the complex is used for concerts and touring productions through the year. Restaurants of several kinds, a spa and meeting rooms occupy the lower levels, and the hotel rooms stand above them. The riverside walkway runs past the marina and joins the wider path network of the city along the arm of the river.

Ask the resort about the theatre programme and about whether the riverside walkway and marina are open during your stay, since sections can close for work. Restaurant hours differ from one another and are worth confirming in the same message before you travel.

Casino Rama Resort

Rama, Ontario, Canada

Casino Rama Resort stands at Rama in central Ontario, near Orillia and Lake Couchiching. The resort is located on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, and that is how the operator describes the site. It is a road approach through the countryside north of Toronto, with the resort buildings set in open ground rather than in a town centre.

An entertainment hall inside the resort holds a year-round programme of concerts, and a smaller room is used for other events. Restaurants of several kinds, a spa and meeting rooms occupy the public levels, and the hotel building stands beside them. The grounds hold parking and outdoor areas, with the lake and the town of Orillia a short drive away.

Write to the resort about the concert programme and about how tickets and parking are arranged for guests. The hours of the spa and the restaurants change through the year, and bus services from Toronto are seasonal, so both are worth confirming in advance.
